Vicky And Her Mystery In The Woods

A young girl, Vicky Andressen, was walking home from school when she saw a man standing on top of the hill where her house was. He had dark hair and wore a red shirt, jeans, and cowboy boots.
She thought it was odd because there weren’t many people in town who dressed like that, but as he looked down at her for a moment she noticed something strange about his eyes—they seemed to glow with an inner light. She didn’t see him again after that day, but when she told her mom what happened later, she was laughed at and called a liar.
Three months passed until two days before Halloween when Vicky decided to go to the woods to find some pumpkins for decorations around their house. When she went into the forest near her house alone, she suddenly remembered the strange man from months ago. With her flashlight illuminating the path ahead of her, Vicky followed a narrow trail through the woods.
Suddenly, the flashlight beam moved away from her body and came back toward her face only to reveal a pair of glowing eyes in front of her. Without warning, a hand grabbed her shoulder. It felt cold, hard, and wet. Vicky screamed in terror. As soon as she did so the hand released her.
Then she heard someone say “Shhh… Don’t scream.” Vicky turned around and shone the flashlight directly into the dark face. There was no one there. Then she heard footsteps running away through the woods. After searching for several minutes without success, she headed home.
Several weeks passed by and Vicky began hearing noises outside their house late at night, as well as the faint sound of giggling voices. But her mom refused to let her tell anyone or get them out of the house. A few nights later, they all woke up to hear a loud noise coming from downstairs.
Vicky’s mom checked the house and found nothing amiss. They then listened carefully but were unable to determine what caused the sound. Finally, Vicky convinced her mother to have someone come over and listen, too. The next morning the police arrived and searched the house thoroughly before telling Vicky’s parents that everything was okay.
Vicki had always loved being outside and spending time in the woods. She often took walks during lunch breaks to clear her head after another boring class.
One Friday afternoon she decided to take a walk in the nearby woods, but just a couple of minutes into her walk something strange happened: she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand up and her spine tingle; she felt afraid and vulnerable for a moment, which she rarely ever experienced.
Then, she felt something moving fast toward her and she turned around to find it was the same man who scared her earlier that year. He stood on the hill above the trail wearing the same clothes. He walked slowly toward her as if he was watching her intently. Vicky couldn’t see his face but felt certain it was staring at her.
She ran down the path back toward their house, tripped, and fell. Just as she got up again she noticed a figure following her along the path. It was the man from earlier, now much closer. Vicky turned around again to see his silhouette standing behind a tree. His eyes stared deeply into hers. Vicky started screaming. Before she knew it she was lying on the ground with his hand around her throat.
She struggled against him. The man released his grip. Then she saw that he held her mother’s handgun in his other hand. He pointed the gun at her and said “Shh… Don’t scream.” The man then pulled a switchblade knife and sliced Vicky’s arm open. Vicky screamed once more. The man then put the gun on her head and pulled the trigger. There was a small explosion and Vicky felt a burning sensation all over her head.
Then Vicky passed out and woke up with a throbbing headache and a bandage on her head.
The police questioned Vicky’s parents about the incident but found nothing unusual except that both her parents were extremely shaken and nervous that night. Vicky’s parents insisted their daughter was not crazy and was merely experiencing sleep paralysis brought on by stress.
However, they did agree to let a hypnotist check, Vicky. After examining her memories from that night, the hypnotist concluded that the girl wasn’t suffering from sleep paralysis; rather, the hypnosis confirmed that she witnessed the death of her father in a dream and that her memory of this event was accurate and vivid.
In January 1988, Vicky was diagnosed with narcolepsy and prescribed medication to help cure it. Since then her nightmares have subsided, and she hasn’t seen the man since that day since.
