On the day you were born
Your daddy and I were so happy
We just knew you would bring us joy.
You arrived right on time
With a full head of curly hair
And your daddy laughed when he saw
A dimple in your chin.
But then he cried out in pain
When they stuck his hand down your throat.
You had to cry yourself to sleep.
We tried our hardest not to blame
The doctor who was only doing his job,
But we couldn’t help but think
About what might have been.
We could not believe you were gone.
All we felt was sadness and fear.
But, through the tears, we knew you
Had a beautiful purpose in life.
I prayed with all my might
That God would give you wings
To soar on high to heaven.
I still pray for you each day,
To help you fly to heaven.
I hope you can see me
From up above in Heaven
Watching over you until we meet again.

They sparkle still today
For the beautiful baby girl
That she has always loved.

Is for a good night out on the town.
She knew how much to spend
On things that we’d need.
She said, “Son, don’t worry about the rent.”
And, “If you’re ever in a jam
You can always turn to me.
But don’t be shy, son.
There’ll be some hard times, you’ll see.
Don’t ever try to hide
