Will Chan is a bald, curvy, and grateful private detective from Ohio. His life is going nowhere until he meets Barry Blacksmith, an ugly, podgy man with a passion for cookery.

Will takes an instant disliking of Barry and the creepy and snooty ways he learned during his years at the seaside.

However, when an alien tries to destroy Will, Barry springs to the rescue. Will begins to notice that Barry is actually rather funny at heart.

But, the pressures of Barry’s job as a fishmonger leave him blind to Will’s affections and Will takes up socializing to try and distract himself.

While working on a case concerning missing ingredients used by a famous chef called Fletch, they discover something sinister about their client’s daughter, Vivian, and her involvement with the Council For Scientific Research (CSR) and its research into genetics.

After this discovery, things get out of hand fast and soon Barry has been framed for murder, mistaken identity, kidnap, theft and treason. The only way left to clear his name is through a desperate act that Will feels guilty about doing but nevertheless does it anyway…

Their romance blossoms and Will gets hired by Barry’s nemesis Chef DePledge as bodyguard to his prized possession: A “culinary genius” named Vermouth! Barry wants nothing more than to break into DePledge’s inner sanctum in pursuit of revenge against him.

And what better way to do so than to use Vivian and his research facilities which are located underneath the kitchen of the Grand Hotel? When he discovers how dark the CSR is on a few secrets within, however, Will starts to understand why people like DePledge hate the very notion of what they’re trying to achieve, a path that could lead to unimaginable horrors.

Can they both get back to normal or will Barry’s quest consume them both?

This story picks up several months after the last one ended and Will has got into trouble again for defending someone who should have remained at large. Barry’s old girlfriend is in need of help as she seems to have returned to the town to retrieve some kind of strange blue object and may be involved with drugs as well.

Barry goes off the deep end once more due to overworking and finds Will being chased by local bad guys, including the mother of a guy he killed previously, but thankfully Will managed to take him down before anything else happens.

Fortunately, Barry comes to his senses and tries to come home but not long after returning there is another confrontation between Will and the local villainess with a gun threatening both their lives. Also, this time they get shot, though nobody except perhaps Will knows how much damage it caused to them.

On top of that, the city has begun to feel something isn’t right and strange phenomena start occurring around town while things get stranger altogether. Meanwhile, Will decides to make amends and apologize to the boyfriends of the two women he got hurt helping. There will also be some revelations on both sides if you’re following along with Barry and/or Will.

Barry thinks that Will doesn’t care anymore now that they’ve both been in love with each other for quite some time and therefore they part ways. But eventually, they reunite just for a bit as well as Will falls for Barry’s rival once more causing friction even further.

He meets his rival’s wife, Mary, and finds out he has a daughter who is planning a romantic getaway with a boy. Will becomes suspicious and plans his own romantic outing with a friend of Barry he saved on a train and things seem to turn out great for everyone.

However, their happiness was short-lived when suddenly there was an attack from a group of unknown terrorists near Barry’s hotel leaving him injured as well as killing and kidnapping many innocents including many high-profile people. Later on, he hears that his rival and his family have been taken captive by these same terrorists.

With nowhere to go but with his daughter and her companion who was already traveling to another country to meet up with her boyfriend Barry is forced to do his duty and take matters into his own hands, even if it means using deadly force in order to save his loved ones, whether they want to be rescued or not.

Now having the full weight of his fallen angel friends and enemies to face, Will must decide whose side to fight for even when they bring everything crashing down around him in the process. Barry has become obsessed with getting revenge on the mysterious traitor he believes started all this and leads him straight into enemy territory where he’ll never return again.

Can anyone stop Barry from committing unspeakable acts of evil or will it finally drive him to madness for good?

It had been three months since Barry won custody of Veronica over his ex-wife Jennifer who’d been keeping her hidden from him. Barry found out through other sources that her parents died recently in some accident that resulted in being swept away in a current while fishing.

They’ve been without any contact with either of their families and were very close to living under the radar. But lately, trouble started brewing between these two that Barry didn’t notice at first until he noticed Veronica began acting peculiarly towards him and became hostile for no apparent reason.

It was obvious something horrible happened between the two sisters but for some odd reason neither would speak about it.

Both girls looked almost identical so it took Barry quite some time before he figured it out. That evening both of them shared stories of what was happening to them. Though, of course, that’s only because the stories they share are completely different.

Having seen what he believed was evidence of physical abuse at the hand of their father and his brother, Barry took it upon himself to intervene and protect them from him. Of course, his actions upset Veronica even more so and she’d gone into hiding while his younger sister made excuses to stay with him longer hoping her father might relent given enough time.

Little did she realize that it was already too late for her and that she’d rather die than give him another chance to lay a finger on either of the girls.

Being sick and tired of worrying constantly, he went about looking for his lover as she’d apparently disappeared as soon as they landed, checking hotels, buses, taxis, and even getting a little desperate with the police which turned up nothing.

Unable to handle waiting anymore he headed back to Barry’s apartment to rest as he still wasn’t feeling the best despite taking numerous days off of work to rest and recuperate. Upon entering his home there he’d find his female neighbor packing her belongings into suitcases, saying she needed to leave due to his continued harassment of trying to force his way into his house whenever he thought he could catch her alone.

Eventually one night he does manage to enter the building and gets inside her residence but much like he feared she used supernatural powers on him that rendered him unconscious leaving him trapped in his room unable to move or breathe.

His next attempt is interrupted by an older male coworker visiting him asking if he ever got back together with Jennifer. The man seemed oddly familiar to Barry until later he realizes it’s actually his rival Will, someone he tried to help the last time this incident occurred.

As they begin talking the other man mentions to Will how he really messed with Barry’s head when he said that Jennifer had cheated on him. She then tries to convince the two of them that he needs her help instead in order to get better as his life seems to spiral out of control lately.

It takes some convincing but eventually Barry agrees and is set free once again as he moves over to the bed in search of sleep.

As he walks the hallway it feels as though every single person that crosses his path has something to say to him about it as he seems to be avoiding eye contact with others everywhere he goes. He then reaches the door to his bedroom and realizes that his keys haven’t come back to him yet.

At this point, he opens the door wondering if he dropped them somewhere downstairs, and discovers in surprise that it was Veronica standing in his doorway wearing a black mask covering half her face.

This triggers a memory of him finding her in his home after coming back to recover and not being able to see anything except her eyes as well. Before he can react she raises a gun to his temple and points it at him until he begs for mercy. In utter disbelief, Veronica fires off multiple bullets into Barry’s forehead killing him instantly.

Even after he stops moving she pulls the trigger to make sure he’s dead and finally lowers the gun just enough for her to take the mask down revealing his pretty little blonde girlfriend, his lover he never knew about. Her face flushed red, her hair in disarray, tears falling from her eyes.

The men outside grow concerned having heard all the noise coming from his residence and decide that there’s going to be no better time than right now to enter the building. One of them decides to break open the window of his apartment to peer inside and finds the body of the beautiful girl he fell in love with standing motionless in front of him.

Surprised by this revelation he peers through the window of her bedroom seeing the body of her boyfriend Barry lying helplessly on the floor dead.

Now completely devastated they run out of the home afraid of what they might find next only to see a man leaving carrying something large. The way the figure carries whatever item he has he suddenly recognizes it and immediately makes an accusation to the rest of them that the killer is still living amongst the survivors. They follow suit but are unable to catch up with him before he runs down the sidewalk with other members of the group close behind.

In another part of town, some people in the street who were observing the action begin to leave their houses when one of those insides says she saw someone running towards them from the direction of Barry’s residence.

She had seen this stranger chasing after whoever was approaching so they try to hurry after him while taking extra precautions of opening doors before entering homes to see if there really is a murderer among them or if it was just another false alarm like the earlier screams.

Once again there seems to be more commotion among residents across the city as reports of gunshots and killings continue.

With the exception of the first murder, no one involved has any idea how or why these sudden violent events have begun happening throughout the city but everyone is terrified regardless because there seems to be no end in sight.

People began abandoning vehicles once more fearing further harm in the future if caught in traffic as cars appear on both sides of the road creating a virtual blockade forcing drivers to move over or risk becoming a victim themselves. As things begin to return to normal there seems to be a brief calm before the storm.

A voice blaring from speakers from various locations around the city gives the announcement: “We need every last person we can get.”

While no one knows exactly what the authorities would ask for such help to be given, almost in unison everyone hears the question. How many bodies will be left on the ground without a fight? How many more innocents will die before anyone attempts to save them from their fates?

What happens in the wake of death to fuel violence and anger toward the living; what will people do to survive when faced with danger which appears endless; how much hatred does a population have inside of them ready to erupt anytime or anywhere as their thirst for blood begins to be fulfilled in full by the slaughter of human beings?

We don’t know if the worst is yet to come, or if it has already passed by but I suspect this country could not possibly go any lower. There are times that people become so cruel you wonder who is the savage and who the victim, the more savage and the destroyed, the rapist and the assaulted, the predator and prey.

The worst monsters live among us and reside comfortably in the land of the free because the freedom to be mean, ugly, cruel, and evil is protected under the law…so long as it is sanctioned by society.

Those of us who can do nothing about the horror that has taken place simply turn away in denial of its existence and choose to ignore the fact that innocent lives were lost.
